Dr. York graduated from Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, working her first 18 years as a general practitioner in the twin cities area. Dr. York’s extensive experience and years of strong emphasis in surgery transitioned her into Emergency Medicine in 2023.
Like many veterinarians, Dr. York’s interest in veterinary medicine started in early childhood. She was raised in rural Iowa, on a small beef cattle farm, where she learned the value of a hard day’s work and the gratification of helping others in the community. Growing up, Dr. York had the privilege of caring for a variety of animals and shadowing mixed practice veterinarians before attending college. These early experiences fueled her passion to help those without a voice of their own. Dr. York started her college career at Iowa State University, transferring to the University of Minnesota when her husband’s job moved them to the Twin Cities. While in college she worked in all the positions of veterinary care: kennel attendant, receptionist, veterinary assistant, and uncertified veterinary technician. These working experiences helped develop an appreciation for every team member’s value in a clinic, that it truly takes an entire caring team working together to provide the best outcome for the patients.
Dr. York enjoys most of her patients but has an extra special soft spot for the brachycephalic dogs, having a few as part of her own family.
Dr. York enjoys being part of the Allied Emergency team, together striving to provide the most compassionate, comprehensive care possible. In her downtime her interests include spending as much time outdoors as possible; gardening, landscaping, hiking with her pups and helping with home improvement projects. She also enjoys running when her body complies and has a goal to complete a ½ marathon in each state before her body mandates hanging up the running shoes.
