Our emergency hospitals are fortunate to have an additional resource to turn to if an emergency patient requires more advanced treatment, namely veterinarians who are board-certified or residency-trained in a particular area of medicine. In Brooklyn Park, our flagship hospital, we are equipped to diagnose and treat the most serious illnesses and injuries.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), a veterinarian is board certified if they have completed additional training in a specific area of veterinary medicine and passed an exam that evaluates their knowledge and skills in that area. The AVMA has established the American Board of Veterinary Specialties (ABVS) to oversee the development and performance of the colleges and boards that recognize veterinary specialties. There are 22 AVMA-recognized veterinary specialty organizations that represent 46 different specialties.
We are proud to have several board-certified veterinary specialists on our team to provide the advanced care many of our patients need.
