Dr. Chiu is a specialist in veterinary surgery, board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He earned his veterinary degree from University of Melbourne in Australia (where he had a full scholarship). Dr. Chiu honed his surgical skills through internships and a rigorous fellowship and residency in small animal surgery at North Carolina State University, where his clinical research won several awards. He is adept at soft tissue surgery, orthopedics and neurosurgery, and has a special interest in minimally invasive techniques such as thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, and image-guided interventions.
Outside of the OR, Dr. Chiu values his time with family, understanding that people’s pets are part of that circle. This informs his compassionate, patient-focused and always respectful approach to the pets and people he serves.
